Week 7 – 8th Dec 2014 Godzilla and the wee bollocks

Monday mummy wasn’t feeling great especially after a lack of sleep. Elyse had been very unsettled in the night. Poor Martin discovered why at 5am. I hadn’t put a nappy on her! How does anyone manage that?! Poor darling was soaking, but no lasting damage (apart from to my mummy pride!) Kealan spent some time at breakfast trying to get into his toy car. Hilarious. Especially given that I was certain he had mastered the concept of size.

After having refused to eat his breakfast Kealan went to the playroom and repeatedly demanded “mummy play”. I told him I was giving Elyse breakfast which he thought about for a minute and then said “Elyse done, mummy play”. Poor baby girl doesn’t get a look in most of the time. Although she pulled herself to standing many times today and crawls like lightening. She’s gonna give as good as she gets.
Kealan took a visit to see grandad and had a lovely time. Unfortunately he didn’t wake up well from his nap though and had an emotional evening.
Tuesday mummy woke up with a nasty cold but as it was kealans actual birthday we took a trip to Peter pans. He’s so much more capable now and kept demanding to go down the big slide “alone”!

Getting a group shot turned out to be impossible with far too much excitement to sit still.

To mark kealans 2nd birthday I wanted to write a short list of things he has said recently and tasks he can do.
No better than his comment when walking out of Peter pans….”I wanna see gulls fly”….and there really were seagulls flying about!!
When I put Elyse up to bed and we could hear her crying on the monitor I said to Kealan “oh Kealan, Elyse is sad” to which he replied “sad, alone, no food, no home” which is a quote from his 10 little pirates book.
He can distinguish between a mammoth and and elephant. And between a duck, chicken, turkey, goose, swan and knows quack, quack, cockadoodledoo and cluck cluck.
He knows sheep and cows eat grass, rabbits and horses like carrots, dogs live in kennels and fish in a tank. He talks in short sentences saying things like “Elyse is touching the mirror/I want to hold that/mummy go and get little car/I want to go library to push computer. He knows a few colours, small and big, hot and cold, wet and dry, under and beside, happy and sad. He can now go up and down the stairs without any help and tries hard to carry things without spilling. He’s still shy but doing much better at talking to people he doesn’t know. All in all I think he’s doing exceptionally well (but then I guess all mummy’s think that!). I’m looking forward to totschooling in the new year and making progress with letters and numbers.
Right now kealans favourite show is Ben and holly and he especially like the episodes in the dwarf mine. He sings dig dig dig all the time. He has discovered a love for chocolate and jumping off the sofa into his ball pit. He’s just started doing simple jigsaws and as usual he loves sheepie more than anyone.
On Wednesday we went to rhythm and rhyme despite a massive chocolate tantrum on the way. Both babies were good but shortly after we got home Kealan seemed a little unwell. He went up to bed for a nap but only got 40 mins. Elyse was gorgeous in her christmas jumper so I got some nice pics in the playroom.
She is constantly pulling herself up on whatever is near her and is causing me all kinds of heartache!

Kealan doesn’t play with megabloks much yet but does enjoy walking around with the bag on his head!

Well Wednesday night was the worst night yet. By the time Martin got in from work at 10pm Kealan had already been up screaming 4 times. He couldn’t breath properly and was making a horrendous whooping sound. I stayed in the room with him and achieved 30 mins sleep between 11.30 and 12.00. The rest of the night was spent with Kealan in and out of the cot screaming and crying and falling asleep for just 20-30 mins at a time. I was reading stories at 4am. Martin had had a bad night with Elyse too who also has the cold. Thursday morning was chaos, both babies tired and crying and I felt terrible. At 10 am Id tried to put Elyse up for a nap twice and she was crying her eyes out so I wrapped them both up and went to mother and toddlers. Thank god! They both had a great time and the change of scene seemed to help them feel better. The pic is of a rare quiet moment early in the morning and another of Elyse in the playhouse at m&t’s.

In the afternoon I had to take Amy to the opticians and little Elyse came too. She found herself in a mirror and had a very funny conversation with herself for about 10 mins.

I don’t have much to say about Friday. I took them to Rushmere whilst Martin had a hospital appointment and whilst I managed to get the couple of things I needed I also nearly murdered Kealan! His illness has taken us back to pretty horrendous behaviour with back to back chocolate and ride on tantrums. Let just say he got both!

With Martin on a late night the evening was pretty horrible but with Amys help I survived. And despite almost crippling tiredness we started in to making Christmas gifts for her friends at 9pm. I think our hot choc santas are pretty cool.

Saturday was mums birthday so I got the babies ready for her calling round. However, giving Elyse a crayon to sign the card and then missing her dash to the fireplace resulted in this…

Kealans doing a bit better but still full of the cold and not playing very much. It’s pretty much back to back Ben and holly in our house this week.  And I did manage to get one nice shot of my 3 angels with my amazing mum.

Sunday we went to a Christmas party at tesco for children of staff members. It turned out to be really nice with old colleagues of mine there and a visit from Santa. Little Elyse was the first on santas knee but Kealan wasn’t so sure. He enjoyed making pictures though and the chocolate of course!

And now you’re wondering why you read all that and still don’t understand the title of the post! Well hubbie casually called Elyse Godzilla during the week and it has really stuck. It’s provides almost perfect imagery of how Elyse clambers over everything destroying carefully constructed digger play scenes and teddy bears picnics to the screams of “no Elyse, away” from Kealan. And as for the ‘wee bollocks’, well quite frankly he has been. Tantrums galore and spoilt rotten again. Illness always sets us back so much and his already neurotic and obsessive personality goes into overdrive. I’ve spent most of the week searching the house for whichever particular toy car Kealan needs at any given instant. The joys of motherhood! Xx
